Framed Print of Thomas Robert Malthus, English Scholar
The Reverend Thomas Robert Malthus (1766-1834) was an English scholar, influential in political economy and demography. Malthus is chiefly remembered for his theories about population and its increase or decrease in response to various factors. The six editions of his An Essay on the Principle of Population, published from 1798 to 1826, observed that sooner or later population gets checked by famine and disease. "The power of population is indefinitely greater than the power in the earth to produce subsistence for man". The Malthusian growth model is an exponential growth based on a constant rate of compound interest and is widely regarded in the field of population ecology as the first principle of population dynamics. Malthusianism became an intellectual stepping-stone to the idea of natural selection. Malthus popularized the economic theory of rent. His students affectionately referred to him as "Pop" or "Population" Malthus. He died in 1834 at the age of 68. © NLM / Science Source

Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
