John Burgoyne (February 24, 1722 - August 4, 1792) was a English army officer, politician and dramatist. Appointed to capture Albany and end the rebellion, Burgoyne advanced from Canada but soon found himself surrounded and outnumbered. He surrendered his army of 5, 000 men to the American troops. He faced criticism when he returned to England never held another active command. George Washington (February 22, 1732 - December 14, 1799) was the first President of the USA, from 1789-97, and dominant military and political leader 1775-99. He was one of the Founding Fathers and hailed as "father of his country" even during his lifetime. He led the American victory over Great Britain in the American Revolutionary War as commander-in-chief of the Continental Army from 1775-83. He presided over the convention that drafted the US Constitution, which replaced the Articles of Confederation and which remains the supreme law of the land. His leadership style established many forms and rituals of government that have been used since, such as using a cabinet system and delivering an inaugural address. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
