Framed Print of Robinson's Anemometer, 1846
Illustration of the anemometer invented by Dr. John Thomas Romney Robinson, of Armagh Observatory, in 1846. This is a device for measuring wind speed, and is a common weather station instrument. By counting the number of rotations of the cups over a set period of time one can deduce the wind speed. © National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration / Science Source
