Framed Print of Sala de las dos Hermanas, Alhambra
Sala de las dos Hermanas (Hall of the two Sisters), so called from two white marble slabs laid as part of the pavement. There is a fountain in the middle of this hall, and the roof, a dome honeycombed with tiny cells, all different, and said to number 5000, is an example of the stalactite vaulting of the Moors. Alhambra (Calat Alhambra) is a palace and fortress complex located in Granada, Andalusia, Spain. It was constructed during the mid 10th century by the Arabic ruler Badis ben Habus. The majority of the palace buildings are quadrangular in plan, with all the rooms opening on to a central court. The Alhambra was extended by the different Muslim rulers who lived in the complex. Each new section followed the consistent theme of paradise on earth. Column arcades, fountains with running water, and reflecting pools were used to add to the aesthetic and functional complexity. The exterior was left plain and austere. Sun and wind were freely admitted. Blue, red, and a golden yellow are the colors chiefly employed. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
