Framed Print of Dolley Madison, First Lady
Dolley Payne Todd Madison (May 20, 1768 - July 12, 1849) was the of President James Madison, and First Lady of the United States from 1809 to 1817. She was notable for her social gifts and helped define the role of the First Lady. Her success as a hostess contributed to increasing the popularity of Madison as president. In 1790, She married John Todd, a Quaker lawyer, and they had two sons: Payne and William. In 1793 a yellow fever epidemic broke out and her husband and youngest son, William died. She was a widow at the age of 25. Madison was 17 years her senior and, at the age of 43, a longstanding bachelor, but after a brisk courtship followed she accepted his proposal of marriage. Since he was not a Quaker, she was expelled from the Society of Friends. They were married on September 15, 1794. She died at her home in Washington in 1849 at the age of 81. © New York Public Library / Science Source

Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
