Johnson by Arthur Stumpf, 1866. Andrew Johnson (December 29, 1808 - July 31, 1875) was the 17th President of the United States (1865-1869). After brief service in the Tennessee Senate, he was elected to the federal House of Representatives in 1843, where he served five two-year terms. He became Governor of Tennessee for four years, and was elected by the legislature to the Senate in 1857. In his congressional service, he sought passage of the Homestead Bill, which was enacted soon after he left his Senate seat in 1862. As Lincoln's vice president, he became president when Lincoln was assassinated and came to office as the Civil War concluded. The new president favored quick restoration of the seceded states to the Union. His plans did not give protection to the former slaves. He opposed the Fourteenth Amendment, that gave citizenship to African American males. He quickly came into conflict with the Republican dominated Congress, culminating in his impeachment by the House of Representatives. The first American president to be impeached, he was acquitted in the Senate by one vote. In 1875 he suffered two strokes, and died at the age of 66. He is generally considered among the worst American presidents for his opposition to federally guaranteed rights for African-Americans. © Researchers / Science Source

Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
