Lithograph entitled and captioned: "The Battle of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, July 3rd, 1863. This terrific and bloody conflict between the gallant Army of the Potomac commanded by their General George G. Meade, and the host of the Rebel Army of Virginia under General Lee, was commented on Wednesday July 1st and ended on Friday July 3rd at 5 o'clock PM. The decisive battle was fought on Friday ending in the complete rout and dispersal of the rebel Army. Undying fame and a Nation's thanks are ever due the heroic soldiers who fought with such unflinching bravery this long and desperate fight." The Battle of Gettysburg was fought July 1-3, 1863, in and around the town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The battle with the largest number of casualties in the American Civil War, it is often described as the war's turning point. Union Major General George Gordon Meade's Army of the Potomac defeated attacks by Confederate General Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia, ending Lee's invasion of the North. Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame.
